Meet Our Foster Pup, Dante!
So we’re on our fourth week of fostering Dante, a super sweet puppy that came from the East Valley MCACC kennel. He is about 1 year old and 26 pounds. Beautiful, healthy looking puppy. Over the coming weeks I’ll continue to provide updates about him.
His name is actually Healthcliff, if you were to look up his profile on MCACC website, but we have started calling him Dante and he responds to it. We came up with the name because he is so small and dainty (get it?!) compared to our previous dogs. No relation to the dog from Coco but mere coincidence. 🙃
Dante is a fun and smart dog. Incredibly agile. Runs like a performance dog. We have taught him sit, stay, come, lay down, kennel, and more. He works hard for praise and treats and is crate trained.
He is still a puppy and has plenty of energy to go on long walks. We’ve been taking him twice a day, and since it’s around 110 degrees in the middle of the day, our walks are around 7 am and 9 pm. He is super fun to play with in the back yard. Once in a while he gets excited and tries to wrestle the kids but he is extremely easy to settle back down. He’ll either go outside or straight into his kennel when you tell him.
I’m so thankful for this great opportunity to foster a dog and see if our family is ready. It’s been 20 months since we lost Sam and the fast pace of life with kids is always changing. With Haleigh about to turn 3, it seemed like a good time for a pet again.
