BISSELL Pet Foundation’s “Empty the Shelters” Event – Three Days Left!

Did you know that summer time is the time of year when shelters are likely to be at their highest capacity? That’s because intake peaks during the hot summer days, and families are less likely to be looking to adopt a new family member amid summer vacations, etc.

BISSELL Pet Foundation (BPF) exists to support animal welfare organizations and provide resources to underserved communities. This includes helping to reduce the number of animals in shelters and rescues through pet adoption, spay/neuter programs, vaccinations, microchipping, and crisis and disaster response. They established a quarterly event called “Empty the Shelters” in 2016, which subsidizes the cost to adopt a dog or cat. It’s the nation’s largest funded adoption event, and BPF reimburses shelters so that adopters pay no more than $50 to adopt their new best friend who comes home spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Since its establishment, this event has helped nearly 158,000 pets find their loving families at participating shelters in 49 states and Canada. Events are held quarterly. Time is running out for the July event, which runs from July 6-31. So if you’re looking for a new dog or cat, head to your nearest shelter! Here is a link to find participating shelters.
